Website Update and New Book

Previous visitors to this site will have noticed that we've updated it to coincide with the upcoming release of my second book: 'Embracing the Wide Sky - A Tour Across the Horizons of the Mind'. You can read the synopsis and Publishers Weekly's starred review for the book here: http://www.optimnem.co.uk/book.php

I'll be posting regular chapter extracts here over the coming weeks on several of the main ideas/topics discussed in the book. A short promotional video is also in production and will appear here at the start of December.

Can you tell me a little bit about the audio version? Your voice or someone else and will it be release the same time as the book?

Also ... can the publisher do a "Kindle" version?

I finished reading your first book as a reuslt of seeing the British Documentary about your meeting with US scientists.

One thing that struck me as odd was that in the Documentary that I saw online, Your Mother said, (I paraphrase) 'If Daniel was your first son you would never have another'. And yet in your book, indeed you are the first born, of NINE !

After finishing the book, I understood more what your day to day experience must have been, and I can't help but wonder...

In your book you seem to be very reserved, quiet, preferring a private life; In fact it seems that your nature is very reclusive.

You write that when visitors came unannounced, you would find it very difficult to be able to adjust because it alters the smooth passage of a carefully planned day.

And yet with all sorts of people reaching out to you after the TV appearances and the book, I wonder how you must be dealing with all the attention.

Naturally people are drawn to you, either because they share some aspect of your experience growing up with epilepsy or Aperger's Syndrome

Or perhaps because people's imagination is totally captivated by this beautiful and incredibly meaningful imagery that emerges in your mind.

Perhaps also because you are very charismatic.

I wonder, Daniel, What's your strategy for managing your need for privacy versus the inevitable flood of people asking to talk or meet with you ?

I just finished reading "Born on a Blue Day." It was recommended by a coworker who knows of my son's PDD-NOS diagnosis (he was just one criterion short of an official Asperger's diagnosis; with early intensive intervention, his social skills were "too good"). I can especially relate to the description of synesthesia. I have always seen sounds and felt, heard, and smelled sights. It was not until a few years ago that I learned that it had a name. In particular, I see songs in color. When I sing, I follow the ribbons of color to find harmonies to complement whatever everyone else is singing.

Now that I know there is another book forthcoming, I am looking forward to it eagerly. God bless and keep you.

Daniel, Your story is amazing. My nephew has Asperger's but has intellectual limitations. He is shy as you describe yourself in your book. I am going to give your book to him for Christmas as an inspiration. He can become independent and use his stregths and skills as you have done.Thank you for giving insight into your special life. You are giving hope to others.

I believe I'm as amazed as anyone that can roughly comprehend your capabilities, but anyway I can avoid posting here my astonishment. I obviously can't understand your brain or how does it work but I hope someone does, it'd be so wonderful..

I don't even know what to say :$

Just feel hugely admired by this spanish guy :)
