France's 'Most Read' Books of 2009

France's Express magazine has named my second book "Embracing the Wide Sky" (Embrasser le Ciel Immense) as one of the country's 'most read' books of 2009. On March 16th I attended a ceremony at the Fouquet's restaurant in Paris. A photo of the authors was taken (I'm top right), and yes that is the former President Jacques Chirac in the middle! A very memorable day and a wonderful honour.

I just got thru reading born on a blue day and it still lingers within me. I was very much impressed with your ability to candidly speak of your weaknesses as well as your strengths. This self awareness and openness impresses me most and shows your true level of self esteem.

I very much look forward to reading your newer material. Daniel the person is as interesting as Daniel the Savant.

Keep up the great work. I respect the way you embrace life's journey.

There will be a raffle drawn by the various sponsors of a km run by a marathon runner in Paris next week that benefits my son's special school, and I chose to offer them "Je suis né un jour bleu" to be drawn.

I just finished reading Born on a Blue Day and found it fascinating. You are an incredible human being in many ways. I have friends who have children with autism and I plan to share your book with them to give them hope for their young children. Your parents were amazing in knowing how to protect, encourage and love you. I pray that your experiences will continue to be of value to the many who have autism. I also pray that God will continue to bless you.

Hallo, Mr.Tammet!
Thank You for "Born On A Blue Day". This is amazing book in many ways. It has made me thinking of social skills, and what these actually are. What for. I have been not very social myself, but I have survived. Now I have daughter, who certainly does not behave as expected. She is 4, she does not talk or play or like things kids of this age usually do. But she is constantly creating words and her thinking and seeing things has always been figurative. Still, she prefers to stay home, if it is possible, she hates crowds
and unexpected events. I worry a lot about her, but Your book has given me a lot of hope. She is of course different from You, but difference is the thing You teach to see as a good thing, opportunity, Way.
I shall wait a little longer, and if there will not be the translation of "Embracing the Wide Sky" in Estonian, I am going to read it in English.
Keep writing!
